Why some parts don' show up in search.loinc.org whereas they do on the FHIR server?

Why part LP381365-8 is not found by a search of parts on search.loinc.org, this part being successfully found by a lookup on the FHIR server.
I also notice that this part is not in the Part.csv file of LOINC 2.78.

Are there parts, which are less visible than others? Thanks for explaining.

Hi @fmacary,

Search LOINC and the Part.csv only include parts that are directly linked to LOINCs. Part LP381365-8 is only used in the Component By System Hierarchy (formally the Multiaxial Hierarchy), and is in that file in the release. This is part is also a special part used only for that hierarchy, which is generated programmatically and used as a grouper in that hierarchy. It is included in FHIR to return the children. The parts also do not have a details page.

I don’t know if they should be added to search loinc or the part.csv, since they are parts only used in the hierarchy, but I do think we can look at generating detail pages for them, and linking to them from the tree tool.

Let me know your thoughts.

Well, if distributing those parts is useless, I guess that it’s fine to keep them out of the part.csv file of the distribution, to avoid making it bigger.
However, I think that the web portal search.loinc.org and $lookup on the FHIR API of the LOINC server should produce consistent results. The parts are visible on the FHIR server, therefore they should also be visible on the web portal from my perspective.
