Hello, I am looking for RSV-specific LOINC codes pertaining to sequencing and lineage by molecular genetics method but can’t seem to find any. Can you please point me to the right direction?
Hello Sepehr! Welcome to the Forum and thank you for the question. I searched by “RSV Sequencing” in search.loinc.org and didn’t come up with any qualifying codes. Searching for “RSV PCR” found 40 terms, but none that implied the full lineage was being reported. I then searched by “class:micro sequencing” and found a variety of 126 terms that we can model a new term from. There is a generic Viral Sequencing term on Serum, but you didn’t indicate the specimen or system.
LOINC grows by donations of term descriptions by volunteers. You can find a basic submission template at Submissions – LOINC and scrolling to very bottom of the page. Message me to help you complete the request.
All the Best,
Pam Banning
Greetings Pam. Thank you for your response. The specimen/systme would be agnositic, similar to the COVID-19 genetic sequencing tests, 94764-8 (system is isolate/specimen) and 96895-8 (system is XXX).
Best regards,
Sepehr
Good morning, @pdbanning. I have submitted the request for the two LOINC codes we need. Do you know how long it takes for us to hear back. When I submitted the two items, it stated that someone would reach out within 2 business days, but I never received any communications as to what the next steps were or if there were any issues with my submission. Thank you
Hello @sarshadmansab ! The technical team is pretty busy with the LOINC 2.79 release, if you just made the request. I like to get an acknowledgement email that it’s been assigned a submission ID. If they haven’t had time to send the email, you should be able to find your submission in loinc.org/submissions queue for your own name/queue. Give it a few more days if you just made the submission.
Once in the queue, all of the other submissions made prior are ahead of it, so this can take some time to get to yours. They may not ask any questions right away , but prefer to wait until they are actively reviewing the request. Hope this helps.
As long as you can see your submission in the queue, you’ve done all that you can.
Kindly,
Pam
