Is everyone using normal codes for pre-transfusion reaction specimen testing? For example, when doing a transfusion reaction work-up, an ABSC is repeated on the original ABSC specimen; is 890-4 used for this result or is there a preferred “pre-transfusion” version like there is for “post-transfusion” (46271-3)?

You are correct that people are using the orginal blood bank codes for the repeating of the crossmatch screening after a transfusion reaction.
