I am working with my EHR vendor and we are trying to determine what the appropriate LOINC code would be for LOT EXPIRATION. Our vendor was able to find 74712-1 Expiration Date but we are not sure that would be the appropriate use for this. We have CLIA certified labs in-house and in order to maintain that certification we need LOT EXP (one of the requirements), however our vendor needs to have LOINC codes attached to all of our components.
Would 74712-1 be appropriate for LOT EXP (74725-3 The description says (device or medical AndOr surgical supply)?
Should we use the LOINC code that is used when a LOINC code doesn’t exist?
