LOINC 2.83 Drug Tox Screen and Confirm

With the release of 2.83 I’m still seeing a large volume of LOINC codes that are not discouraged in the Drug/Tox class that have a method of either Screen or Confirm. Should these have been discouraged as well? An example would be

40802-1 Cocaine [Presence] in Saliva (oral fluid) by Screen method

Hello Jeremy! Thank you for asking! We didn’t complete the Drug/Tox project in one release. There are just over 300 terms to be built; and the committee hasn’t made suggestions yet on Drug/Tox panels. We will work with HDS staff to assure the discouraged status gets updated in the future.
