Identification of Questionnaire codes

How to identify Physical Health Questionnaire codes from the entire set of LOINC?

Hello,

Are you meaning physician health or Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ) survey codes? I don’t see any physical health questionnaire LOINCs

Searching on “SURVEY.PHQ” lists a number of PHQ codes.

If truly physical health, you may need to specific what physical health characteristics you desire as there are a number of “physical” LOINCs.

Cordially,

Thanks for the response. Yes, I mean Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ) codes. “Physical” was a typo. I want a filter that gives me a complete list of all PHQ codes from the set of LOINC codes. Is the filter “SURVEY.PHQ” sufficient for that? I am using the file PanelsandForms.csv for reference. Also, is there any FHIR API resource for fetching the same?

LOINC Questionnaire definition - #5 by timbriscoe the API hit did not work as expected, earlier.

Have you tried searching LOINC? If so, you’ll see a search of “Patient Health Questionnaire” shows ~181 codes. Most are the “Survey.PHQ” codes. However, there are also a number that are “Survey.CMS codes” that list PHQ in the questions. If you search on the former, you may miss the latter. Also are you looking for those observed or reported as there are versions of the same question for each?

Thank you @pitk0006 . That’s a great point to get started with, I never got this much direction earlier. I searched “Patient Health Questionnaire” on LOINC and it returned 380 results. Here on, I’d have two very specific questions:

  1. The results contains codes like :

    112441-1
Adverse Childhood Experience Questionnaire for Adults [ACE Questionnaire for Adults] and

    90018-3
    Psoriasis care satisfaction questionnaire [PsoSat]
Are these also considered Patient Health Questionnaire codes? If not, how to eliminate these?
  2. I want to cast a wider net to capture all the legitimate PHQ panels and all their children from PanelsandForms.csv or from a LOINC search. Can you lead me to the exact search text and/or filter for that?

And to answer your question above, I want a set that includes both observed and reported versions of the same question. I want a complete list that contains all legitimate LOINC codes that can be categorized as Patient Health Questionnaire - be it a panel code or a child.

LOINC searches are not specific for Patient Health Questionnaire, but may include terms where Questionnaire is used too (as shown in your examples).

Have you read the LOINC User Guide on searches? It provides great information on tailoring searches to find what you want. For example use of “-” (minus sign) in front of a term will eliminate it from the search. I use this to narrow down searches to the criteria of interest. Given you want observed and reported versions then you may not want to exclude one or both of these terms. If you only wanted one of these, then you could use the minus to exclude that term from searches.

Clinical LOINC team members or Tim may have more ideas on queries for all the linked survey panels and responses. Generally, there are the LOINC codes, which will have LOINC Lists of responses represented by LOINC Answer codes. You can see the LA codes in this example (scroll down): LOINC 54676-2 Being short-tempered, easily annoyed in last 2 weeks.frequency [Observed PHQ-9 CMS] If you use RELMA, there are tabs to search for the LOINC List and Answer codes. Note they are different from regular LOINCs.
