Is there an answer list for loinc code 4625-0?
Hello and Welcome Iniobong! Thank you for the question. 4625-0 is a quantitative fraction of Hemoglobin S. A quantitative scale attribute indicates this will be numeric in value. Thus an answer list isn’t necessary.
In general you may find answer lists pertain to non-numeric scale attributes, such as ordinal, nominal or narrative.
Let us know how else to help,
Pam
Many thanks. Didnt know they were numeric. Was referring to the different blood genotype variants (HbAA, HbAS, HbSS,HbAC,HbSC). How are they mapped?
Hello Iniobong,
You have several options of mapping, but they are all based on the style of reporting coming from the laboratory.
As you’re already aware the Hemoglobin SS product that is measured during electrophoresis would be a quantitative percent, along with the other bands of hemoglobin types.
For detection of Hemoglobin genotypes, try searching hemoglobin gene molgen in the search bar. You’ll come up with 29 options that have a qualitative scale and many have properties of PRID (Presence or identity detected) or PRTHR (presence/threshold).
I hope you are starting with a list of the laboratory information system’s data elements, because that’s where the inference/translation of scale and property will become apparent.
All the best,
Pam
Thanks a lot. In a resource limited setting where one is not working with an automated Laboratory Information system, is there a code system to manually input the blood genotype result into the system?
Are you referring to a nomenclature format, when you state a “code system”?
Found it, thanks. Was actually looking for LOINC Code 43113-0 Hemoglobin electrophoresis panel in Blood
