Genomic LOINC Codes and SNOMED LOINC Edition

I’m working on a Genomics project in the England, UK and we should only be using SNOMED CT codes but have noticed most standards for genetics (HL7 v2, FHIR and openEHR) are referencing LOINC.

Logically, the SNOMED LOINC edition https://browser.loincsnomed.org/ seems to be a good fit.

It doesn’t appear to contain LOINC Genomic codes? Will it do so in the future?

Hi Kevin,
Genomics content is not reflected yet in the LOINC Ontology (LOINCSNOMED extension). We just released our 1st official release of the LOINC Ontology in March 2025. Our main focus are Laboratory Observations (top 100-200 rated in usage in Version 1). There maybe some genomics but not to the extent you may expect. As we are moving forward we are looking into gradually covering most if not all of the Lab Observations, Panels, and Lab orders, and highly used Clinical LOINC. To answer your question yes it will but no time line for now.
I appreciate your question,
Best
