Difference between [Reported] and not reported codes

Hello.

I have a general question: what’s the principal difference between [Reported] and not reported codes.

For example, for AMI

58258-5 Myocardial infarction

66624-8 Myocardial infarction [Reported]

I know these codes have different answers, hierarchy, and attributes, but what’s the principal difference?

Thank you

Hello Oleg,

Thank you for the question. Temporality is the difference in this instance. Temporality is a linear timeline of past, present and future. 58258-5 is the finding of a current myocardial infarction. 66624-8 is the patient stating they have had a myocardial infarction in the past. It’s the property attributes of Findings and History that bear the distinction.

have a great day,

Pam
