Hi,
I have a question for the group.
My colleague is performing LOINC mapping for a clinical immunology lab at present.
We find that there are dozens of cellular immunology tests related to patient serum mxied with control serum which most likely fail to map a LOINC code.
For example: Natural Killer cell function - Lymphocytes Patient/Control, Target Effector 1:5 Patient/Control, Target Effector 1:10 Patient/Control, Target Effector 1:10 Patient/Control, Target Effector 1:20 Patient/Control, Target Effector 1:40 Patient/Control,Target Effector 1:80 Patient/Control,…
Is there any suggestion?
Say, propose a new LOINC to Regenstrief or create local LOINC for them
Thanks in advance for your comment.
Sincerely,
John
These may need to be local codes, but I can respond better if I could see and example report and product insert.
Attached with a sample report:-
NK CELL NUMBER & FUNCTION
Specimen: Heparinised and EDTA blood
PATIENT CONTROL NORMAL RANGE(For age)
WBC 7060 /uL 4790 /uL 4500 - 8400

NK cells (CD3-CD16/56+) no. 93 L /uL 217 /uL 300 - 600
MICROCYTOTOXICITY ASSAY
Target cell : Effector cell NORMAL RANGE(Adult)
1 : 5 0.7 L % 13.3 % 1 - 43
1 : 10 4.6 % 21.0 % 2 - 68
1 : 20 10.4 L % 36.6 % 15 - 78
1 : 40 16.1 L % 48.9 % 23 - 77
1 : 80 21.6 L % 53.9 % 27 - 80
Comment: Low NK cytotoxicity partly due to low NK cell number. Taking this into
consideration the NK cytotoxicity is considered impaired or low normal.
We’d like to see a package insert. Can you provide one, or point to a URL for a package insert or reference information. Thanks.
