I do not have any clinical or Lab background, but I am translating (with the assitance of GPs) local Laboratory codes into LOINC codes. I am having trouble with “Anti HBsAg” (Units mIU/ml). Using RELMA I can’t find a translation. I have found Ant-HBs. Help? Thanks.
Antibodies are created in response to an antigen. In English, “Anti HBsAg” means antibodies to Hepatitis B surface antigen, or in other words Hepatitis B surface Ab. The LOINC convention is to include the word “virus” in the component, so you need to look for “Hepatitis B virus surface Ab”.
Hope this helps.
