Our Cytogenetics department is questioning the component name for 32653-8 : DYS gene targeted mutation analysis and that according to NCBI, the gene name has been changed to ELP1. I do see that ELP1 is a related name so this should cover any alternate names. Please advise. Thank you.

I looked up DYS where I’m used to looking (in https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/42327 it returned Dys ) and found the Dystrophin gene, but I cannot see a nomenclature change to ELP1. And ELP1 is not listed as a synonym to Dys. I think the case change has meaning (Dys vs DYS)
Then I looked up ELP1 as the primary name https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/8518 and find exactly what you describe. Let’s have Regenstrief weigh in on their overview of genetic LOINC Parts for nomenclature updates… More to follow
