We have different methods (MGIT, Bactec, Agar proportion method and standardized Broth dilution method) on TB drug ST such as streptomycin. INAH… during LOINC mapping should we generalized as streptomycon[susceptibility] or submit LOINC request on each method type, even though method is optinal. :?:

For the slow-growing Mycobacteria, we suggest using the terms with “Method for Slow-growing mycobacteria” in the method field, regardless of the specific method used. For the rapid growers, we recommend using the same codes that would be used for routine bacteriology (Agar diffusion, MIC, etc.). You could also use the methodless codes for both slow & rapid growers.

Hope this helps.

I am working with susceptibility testing for TB and potential pan-Canadian electronic standards. Curious about the lab test results part of antibiotic susceptibilities for TB. Do the codes for susceptibility tests indicate that this specific test was done (like MIC) and that the specimen or strain was found as “susceptible” and not resistant? Or is there a separate code for indicated that the TB was “resistant” and not susceptible. best, Dillon

The LOINC code which will be in OBX-3 (Observation identifier) segment of the HL7 message indicates that susceptibility testing was performed. The results (susceptible, resistant, or MIC value) is contain the OBX-5 (Observation value).

Hope this helps.

In Peru a higher epidemiologycal cases of TB we perform TB suscptibility for 1st line drugs an 2nd line TB drugs, don´t found these LOINC for each one 1st and 2nd line drugs
