# Jaffe versus enzymatic creatinine

Hi all,  
  
  
  
Does anyone know how to differentiate jaffe creatinine from enzymatic? We report both values at the moment as:  
  
  
  
Creatinine: Sample icteric. Unable to report. Please see enzymatic creatinine.  
  
Creatinine (enzymatic): 150 umol/L  
  
  
  
Do you guys differentiate in the LOINC coding?

Hi Chris,  
  
  
  
There are other portions of the HL7 message that can record specfic lab methodology,if that is necessary. LOINC doesn’t distinguish between enzymatic and Jaffe methods. I did find an article in the appendix of the User’s Guide for GFR - glomerular filtration rate, using creatinine.
