Hello. The LOINC terms are identifiers for the orders and results codes from the local compendium. The reference range from the performing laboratory should be accompanying the lab value in the OBX portion of the message. Units of measure should also accompany from the performing laboratory, although you will find example UCUM units on the quantitative terms in RELMA. Reference ranges for chemistries and hematological assays often have input from the local population’s values in their determination; the responsibility is on the performing lab’s medical director.
